GCFLearnFree.org: 

A Goodwill Community Foundation program that provides free online learning tutorials in reading, math, computer skills, and more. 

Launchpad Tablet:

Learn English grammar and phrases, internet not required!

 

Learner Center by LINCS:
This site offers online resources for adult learners based on your personal goals. 

Louisiana HiSET Requirements:

Louisiana allows students to take the HiSET test in Spanish. Find out eligibility requirements, how to register, and additional details at https://hiset.ets.org/requirements/state/la.

Ascension Parish Government Resources:

Access to public information for the parish of Ascension. 

Ascension Public Schools:

Parent and student resouces for Ascension Parish Public Schools. Ascension Parish school district offers free English classes to Spanish speaking parents. Adult ESL classes will take place every Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the East Ascension High cafeteria.

 

Louisiana Rehabilitation Services: 

Louisiana Rehabilitation Services (LRS) assists persons with disabilities in their desire to obtain or maintain employment and/or achieve independence in their communities by providing rehabilitation services and working cooperatively with business and other community resources.

Louisiana Workforce Commission Services for Job Seekers:

Helping Individuals Reach Employment (HiRE) provides job search tools, services for job seekers, occupational data, veterans services and more. 

 

The Ascension Parish Library and the State Library offer a variety of resources for Spanish-speakers. In addition to print books, the following databases have information and resources in Spanish.

  • EBSCO The language button in EBSCO will translate the interface into Spanish. In addition, several databases in the EBSCO host interface offer articles in Spanish covering a variety of subject areas. Some of the ones we have identified are:

  • Learning Express Resources for Spanish speakers include basic skills improvement and citizenship test study.

  • Mango – Language learning for Spanish speakers with 60 languages to choose from, and practice for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.

  • Pronunciator – Language learning for Spanish speakers with 80 languages to choose from, and practice for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.

Online resources are available in the library or from your home computer using your library card to log in. Some online resources may require your full library card number and PIN to access.
